What it does
Point PrimCut Eye at the folders where your media shows up — screen recordings, camera dumps, downloads, a shared drive — and every new file is imported into your open project automatically, into a bin named after its folder. Record a take, alt-tab back to Premiere, and it's already in the bin.
Eye runs as a quiet background engine that starts with Premiere Pro, so watching continues even when the panel is closed — and your watch list stays on across restarts. It only imports a file once it has finished copying (the file must be stable across two scans), so half-transferred footage is never grabbed. A per-project ledger means the same watch folder can feed many projects without ever importing duplicates into one.

How to use it
Add a folder
Drag a folder onto the panel or click + Add Folder — recordings folder, camera card dump, shared drive, anything.
Flip Watching on
The toggle stays on, even after you restart Premiere. Pick which file types to import with the chips.
Drop media in
New files appear in a bin named after the folder — automatically, a couple of seconds after they finish copying.
Keep editing
The activity log shows every import. Hit Sync any time to scan all folders on demand.

Frequently asked questions
Does it keep watching when the panel is closed?
Yes. The watcher runs in a background engine that starts with Premiere Pro itself — the panel is just a remote control for it. Close the panel, keep recording; your files still import.
What happens if a file is still copying?
Eye waits. A file is only imported once its size and timestamp are identical on two consecutive scans, so a half-transferred 4 GB clip is never pulled in broken.
Will it import the same file twice?
No. Every import is recorded in a per-project ledger, so a file comes in exactly once per project — and the same watch folder can safely feed several different projects.
What if no project is open when files arrive?
They queue. The moment you open a project, everything found while you were away imports in one go.
Does it need an internet connection or API key?
No. PrimCut Eye is fully local — it just watches folders on your machine. No AI service, no key, no uploads.
